Democrats: Sore Losers on Immigration Bill

The House voted on a motion yesterday to bar illegal aliens from receiving federal aid for employment or rental assistance in an agricultural spending bill.  The vote was 215-213 in favor of the motion.   So the motion carries, right?

Wrong!

The Democrats announced the tally as 214-214  motion failed.   It seems that after Rep. McNulty (D-NY) sounded the gavel to close the vote,   votes were changing. He sounded the gavel,  but didn't read the final tally yet.  In between those few seconds,  votes were being recast.

Republicans were very mad about this.   Both parties were shouting at each other.  Republicans ended up walking out before the chamber recessed for the night.

Even fishier,  there was no record of this vote after the recess.   Is this bill going to be reconsidered?  We'll see this morning.

Hmmm...   Dems cheating at votes.  It wouldn't be the first time.  Remember the 2000 Election?

Newt Agrees With Me!

In what may become one of my first  "See I Told You So" moments,  Newt predicts a Clinton-Obama ticket in 2008.   I just want to remind you that I wrote about this previously.  Read my detailed analysis here.
It just shows that great minds think alike.    If Newt agrees with me about this,  maybe I can convince him of some other ideas of mine.   Attention Georgia Republicans,   can anyone pass this along?  LOL

GOP 2008 Race Still Cloudy

I'm back!

I took some time off to study for the Illinois Bar Exam.   I took it last week and am now fully recovered.  Now I am playing catch up on the blog.

In the news:

An AP poll was released 2 weeks ago about the Presidential nominees.  The number of people answering  "Undecided" for the GOP has increased from 14 to 23 percent in the last month.   It looks like people haven't really rallied around a particular candidate yet.

Fred ,  who was to announce on July 4th, has now pushed back the announcement until September.  This means he will not be listed on the IowaIllinois,  or Texas straw polls.   (All of them have rules that only announced candidates will be on the polls.)   Will this hurt his campaign???

Whoops!   Fred IS on the Iowa ballot! The "Draft Condi" campaign was told that one must announce their candidacy in order to be on the Iowa straw poll.   Now I find out that Iowa state central committeemen vote on who will be listed.

Well..... that's all right.   See y'all in Indy.

GOP Presidential Race: Sputtering Along on Fumes

NewsMax has a good article from yesterday analyzing the GOP Presidential Campaigns    There still isn't a good candidate who can energize and inspire the GOP base.   John LeBouitillier gives good analysis about the current state of the race.    Primary voters won't vote for Romney due to his flip-flopping and Mormonism.  Rudy is too socially liberal .  (He credits the reduction in crime in NYC to his gun ban.  )  McCain has problems as a classic RINO,  not to mention that the wheels are falling off his campaign.

Which leaves us with Fred.  LeBoutillier reports that Fred enjoys a lot of support now because he is the "None of the Above" candidate.   People are putting their hopes in him,  when they don't know a lot about him.  (Just because he's an actor and a Republican doesn't make him Reagan!!!  )    Criticism of Fred has already begun.   LeBoutillier talks about the LA Times story about Fred lobbying for abortion rights groups.   Fred denies this.  (This can easily be verified.  If Fred really did this, a smarter move would be to spin it,  not to deny that it ever happened.   I hope he didn't wag his finger at the press when he denied this.)

Fred is described in the article as sucking the oxygen out of the room.  (This is known as "The Jim Edgar Effect" which I wrote about earlier.  Scroll down to read it. )  Wasn't he supposed to announce on the 4th of July?  He has committees and websites already working.  Why won't he just announce?  What is he afraid of?   I beleive Fred may enjoy this "non-candidate" boost a little too much.  It doesn't quite work as well if you already have committees in place.

LeBoutillier predicts that Fred's star will fall like the other candidates once he announces.  It reminds me of that bulldozer game in the casinos.  You put a quarter in ,  hoping that the toy bulldozer under the glass will push the piles of quarters over the ledge and into your hands,  but your quarter just ends up being a part of the pile.

If the Republican leadership believes they can run anyone against Hillary and win,  they are wrong.  Hillary may be wicked,  but she is also cunning.   She'll have all of the liberal media working for her.  Obama may  provide further momentum as her running mate.  Let's also not forget our country's love affair with blondes.

We need a candidate chosen by the people , not one offered to the people.  We need someone who can continue to protect the nation and the war on terror.  The Bush record may stick to any Republican.  What we need is someone who can defend the most important parts.

Criticism of Romney: Porn at the Marriott

In a recent article by the AP,  Romney is receiving criticism from conservatives.  The  scandal deals with his tenure while on the board of drectors at "The Marriott  Hotels".   The Marriott ,  like many hotels,  offers hardcore pronographic movies in its rooms.  Conservaitves, from the Family Research Council,  American Family Association, and Citizens for Community Values  say Romney   should have done more to stop this while he was on The Marriott board.      The problem is that Romney labels himself as a "family values" candidate.   These groups say allowing porn at "The Marriott" runs contrary to that image.

In his defense,  Romney says he doesn't remember porn in the rooms being brought up at any board meetings.  (Of course,  if he was concerned about it,  he could have brought it up himself.)    He says that he doesn't have a problem with adults acquiring porn, but he opposes business procedures that would allow children to be exposed to obscenity.

The President of The Marriott said it would be wrong for Romney to impose his personal beliefs if they were contrary  to the financial interests of the company.

Make of this story what you will.  I think it shows Romney is not exactly aligned with the Christian Right portion of the party.

As a sidenote,  Condoleezza Rice was faced with a similar dilemma after she became Secretary of State.   When she found out pornographic magazines were being sold in the State Department newsstands,  she had them removed.

You can help put Rice's name on the primary ballot in South Carolina.  Scroll this site for details on "The $35,000 Challenge".   Donate here.

Rosie's Daughter "Playing Dress Up"

By now many of you have already seen that pic of Vivie,  daughter of Rosie O, dressed up like a Militant terrorist.   Notice,  she's not in American military fatigues and her head is completely covered in a scarf.   What group does that remind me of?   Hmmm........

(Hat tip - Michelle Malkin,   my personal blog idol.)

Update:

Rosie took the photo down from her site,  and replaced it with Viv flashing a gang sign.   (OK, just kidding, Viv is signing "I love you" in sign language.  In 1984, however,  that sign also meant  "Shout at the Devil" according to the Heavy metal band "Motley Crue".)

Shamnesty Is Dead. Let's Celebrate!

As you may know,  the shamesty bill died in a cloture vote.    This was a victory due in no small part to bloggers.     We helped let the people know what was in the bill and encouraged them to call Congress.

Now the next question is how will we celebrate.  I suggest we get crowds of legal  immigrants to march down the streets in major cities,  like those other people did on May 1st.

Feel free to leave your celebration suggestions in the comments section.

Supreme Court Rejects Affirmative Action in Schools!

On a 5-4 decision,  the U.S. Supreme Court has rejected two school affirmative action plans from Seattle and Louisville , KY.  The usual suspects dissented.

This case holds a special place for me for two reasons:

1)  The Louisville case's lead plaintiff is Crystal Meredith,  a friend I went to high school with at duPont Manual High School.  Not only is this the greatest high school in the state of KY,  if not the country,  it is also the alma mater of Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell.    You can show your support for this court decision by visiting the school's site and donating.

2)   I remember the whole "forced bussing" debacle as a little boy.   My mom was an activist against this plan.  We went to countless PTA, school board meetings , and lemonade stands discussing this issue.  This is a watershed moment for me.

Now, pardon me while I celebrate....YEEE-HAH!!!!!!

Roseanne Barr's Radio Show

I know what you're thinking:  "Roseanne had a radio show?  Really?  No,  really??"   Yes,  but it's too late to tune in.  It has been cancelled,  for the second time.   A rep stated that it was cancelled by Roseanne,  who needed a break.  The show was on for one hour a day on weekdays.   (That's a pretty hectic schedule for some people. )

It was a political commentary show.  She interviewed people such as Noam Chomsky and Maxine Waters.

Roseanne charmed America with her blue collar comedy stylings,  but when she stopped to smell the money,  she showed her moonbat stripes.  After her show "jumped the shark"  ,  she began preaching about liberal politics in interviews and talk shows.    She once complained about never being invited to the Clinton White House despite donating tons of money.  She called it a disservice to her and her "constituents".  ( I'm sure if Roseanne looked more like frequent White House guest Sharon Stone did in the 1990's,  Bill Clinton would have invited her to the White House. )

You should visit Roseanne's blog.   You can get a better perspective on the depths of her insanity.  Among her thoughts,  besides hating Bush,  hating Israel.  When there were rumors that she may join "The View",  she responded that  she hates Israel  too much to host "The View".   (What does hosting "The View" have to do with Israel?  I have no idea.)

Romney: The Scientology Connection

In April,  Romney was asked ,  "What's your favorite novel?"  His answer "Battlefield Earth " by L. Ron Hubbard.     He said he's not in favor of LRH's religion by any means.

OK,  so he's not a Scientologist,  which is good.  His favorite novel was made into a bad movie,  starring Travolta as a dreadlocked alien,  which is bad.     Having an LRH novel as your favroite novel may also make Romney look bad as a candidate.

Also,   considering Mormonism's belief in aliens ,    Romney shows an affinity for believing science fiction as factual.

He many not believe in Scientology,  but he sure seems open to its fundamentals.

Hillary's Campaign Song Is...

Hillary Clinton has picked her campaign theme song

It's "You and I" by Celine Dion.   (If you live in Lincoln Park in Chicago,  the last name is pronounced "Dee- yahhhhhhhhhn"  with the accent on the second syllable.)   Celine is one of the most obnoxious, annoying singers in the world.   Her music is used to torture detainees in Club Gitmo.

This is proof of how diabolical Hillary is.   I refuse to be tortured by that song on Election Night.   We must all stop squabbling and join forces to defeat Hillary.  If Hill wanted to tick us off with her song choice,  she really succeeded.   I'm putting my Lee Greenwood cd in my cd player right now:   "God Bless the USA"
